A Day at Ocean View Apartments:
What It Actually Feels Like

Ocean View Apartments on Portugal's Silver Coast runs the surf session on a schedule built around conditions, not convenience — but almost everything else about the day is genuinely yours to shape. Here's what an actual day looks like, hour by hour, for a guest staying there.

Morning: Ocean Views and a Slow Start

Waking up with a sea view

You wake up to the Atlantic before you wake up to anything else — the apartments are built around that view, with stylish, comfortable interiors that don't feel like a hotel room you're passing through. There's no fixed breakfast sitting to make either: coffee happens whenever you're actually awake, made in your own kitchen if you feel like it, or with the optional breakfast box if you'd rather not. Some mornings that means an early start. Others, it means coffee on the terrace with no urgency at all — right up until the surf session.

The surf session

The surf session runs on a schedule — not because anyone's forcing a routine on you, but because catching the best conditions of the day means going out at the right time, not whenever happens to be convenient. Groups are kept as small as possible and separated by level, and instructors take guests to less crowded spots with the best conditions that day, rather than defaulting to whichever beach is closest. A session runs about three hours, almost always in the morning.

Small-group or 1:1 coaching means correction happens in the water in real time, not saved for a debrief later — and your instructor already knows what you worked on yesterday, which is most of what separates a coached week from just renting a board and hoping for the best.

Midday: entirely your call

Lunch back at the apartment, or a short walk into the village for something at one of the local restaurants — whichever you're in the mood for. This is usually the point in the day where the difference from a shared camp is most obvious: nobody's waiting on you to finish, and there's no group activity you're expected to join if all you want is a quiet hour on the terrace.

Afternoon: pool, sauna, and the terrace

By early afternoon, the surf session is done for the day — three hours in the water is genuinely tiring, and most guests aren't chasing a second session once they're back on land. What's left of the day is yours to fill however suits: a swim in the infinity pool, time in the sauna, a session in the gym, or a yoga class if one's running. Or simply the BBQ terrace, for the ocean view and nothing else.

Some afternoons call for a drive to Ericeira or Peniche instead — both close enough for an easy day trip. Couples often split off here, and families tend to let the kids' energy decide the shape of the afternoon. Most days, though, the pool and the terrace win.

Worth knowing: Nothing in the afternoon is scheduled or assigned. Pool, sauna, gym, yoga, and the BBQ terrace are simply there whenever you want them — there's no group itinerary to opt out of, because nothing's been planned for you in the first place.

Evening: your own terrace

Private terrace, evening light

Dinner cooked in your own kitchen, or a table at one of the restaurants a few minutes' walk away — either way, the evening ends on your own terrace rather than in a shared common room. It's a quieter close to the day than most surf trips offer, and for a lot of guests, it's the part they didn't expect to value as much as they do.

Frequently asked questions

What's a typical day like at Ocean View Apartments?

Coffee on your own schedule, a scheduled morning surf session (around three hours), free time at midday, pool/sauna/gym/yoga or a day trip in the afternoon, and an evening that ends on your own private terrace.

Is breakfast included?

Not by default — you're free to cook your own using the apartment's kitchen, or add the optional breakfast box for fresh, local ingredients delivered to your door.

How much surf time is there each day?

One coached session per day, around three hours, almost always in the morning when conditions are best. Most guests are genuinely tired by early afternoon and aren't looking for a second session.

Is there free time built in, or is every day scheduled?

Only the surf session is scheduled. Afterward, the infinity pool, sauna, gym, yoga, and BBQ terrace are all available whenever you want them, with no group itinerary to follow.

Does the day look different for families or couples?

The basic shape stays the same, but families often let kids' energy set the afternoon pace, while couples sometimes split off — one surfing, one relaxing — before reconnecting in the evening.

None of this is dramatic — that's rather the point. A day here is built to bend around whoever's living it, not the other way round.
