SURF CAMP LOCATION
Where We Are — Praia da Areia Branca, Silver Coast Portugal
Surf2Smile is located in Praia da Areia Branca, a friendly seaside village on the Silver Coast of Portugal.
This stretch of coastline is known for its natural beauty, uncrowded beaches and consistent surf — making it one of the best places in Europe to learn and enjoy waves.
You’ll find:
- Sunlit sandy beaches right at your doorstep
- Safe, beginner-friendly waves most of the year
- A relaxed local community where everyone greets you with a smile
- A coastal lifestyle without the tourist crowds
It’s perfect for families, couples and solo travellers alike.
Our surf camp location is carefully chosen to give you:
- Great surf conditions for all levels
- Easy access to beach, food and local life
- Plenty of things to do on rest days
- A genuine Portuguese coastal experience
Praia da Areia Branca is a small, peaceful village with excellent position by the Atlantic Ocean, hidden from mass tourism. It is situated between Ericeira and Peniche and approximately 45-minute drive away from Lisbon. Our surf camp is located within a walking distance from the waves. This gives our guests an opportunity for a unique surfing and cultural experience. The village center has many restaurants, cafes, local grocery stores, a fish & vegetable market and ATM. On the beach, which is one of the most pristine in Portugal, you will find restaurants and cafes. Everything is within walking distance. It is a very peaceful place during the year, meanwhile in summer it gets quite lively with several concerts and beach events.
Surf Spots Nearby — Waves for Every Level
Just a short distance from camp, the coastline offers a menu of beach and reef breaks that suit every ability.
Because the Silver Coast faces multiple swell directions, you’re likely to find good conditions year-round, even on windier days. As you move north toward Peniche, you’re always just a short drive or group surf trip away from quality surf. We run lessons across both the Lourinhã and Peniche regions, carefully choosing the best spot each day based on conditions and student level. Most of our sessions take place around Peniche, widely considered one of the best surf areas in Europe, thanks to its variety of beaches, consistent swell, and sheltered options for different abilities. This flexibility allows us to provide safer learning conditions, better waves, and a more rewarding surf experience for everyone.
Local Life — Food, Shops & Portuguese Culture
Living by the beach means life is simple, friendly and delicious.
Within walking distance of Surf2Smile you’ll discover:
- Local cafés and pastelarias (try a fresh pastel de nata!)
- Casual restaurants with fresh seafood and Portuguese classics
- International options when you need a change from fish and chips
- Mini-markets, pharmacies and daily essentials
Whether you want a quick coffee before surfing or a relaxed dinner after sunset, everything is just steps away from your room
